Reflection began as an experiment. I was exploring new materials and mark-making, working with a ruling pen alongside techniques that were still finding their place in my process. At first, I was unsure where the piece belonged. The circular forms suggested bubbles rising through water, then gradually began to feel like jellyfish drifting just beneath the surface. I set it aside, not unloved, but unresolved.
Over time, that uncertainty shifted. Each return to the studio drew my attention back to this painting. It lingered in my awareness, reappearing in photos, quietly asking for a closer look. When I finally slowed down and gave it my full attention, the work revealed itself more clearly. What I once questioned became something I genuinely connected with.
I named the piece Reflection because it asks for patience and presence. It invites reconsideration, encouraging a deeper look at what might initially be overlooked. My hope is that it offers you a moment of pause, creating space to reflect on what surfaces when you allow yourself to truly see.
